Nursery Manager
Katie Smeeton

Hi, my name is Katie, and I am one of the Nursery Managers at Children 1st Toton.

I have 16 years of experience in early years education, starting my career as an apprentice and working my way up to Nursery Manager, a role I have held for the last two years. My passion has always been in childcare, particularly with Under 2’s, where I love meeting new families and helping them feel secure in their nursery experience. I strive to ensure our families feel happy within our setting and confident that we are providing the best care for their children.

Hi, my name is Laura, and I am also a Nursery Manager at Children 1st Toton.

I have worked with the company for 17 years, beginning my journey as a Level 3 Early Years Educator before progressing to my role as Nursery Manager, which I have held for the last two years. I am passionate about giving children the best possible start in their early years and ensuring they feel nurtured, valued, and inspired to learn.

Together, we are dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming environment where children can thrive. What makes Children 1st Toton so special is our passionate and, experienced team. We are proud to have many long-serving team members who build lasting relationships with children and families.

We would love to meet you and your family for a nursery tour and show you what makes Children 1st Toton such a wonderful place to be.

Charity Partner

Our Community

At Children 1st Toton, we love being part of a caring and connected community. Giving back is something we’re truly passionate about, which is why we’ve chosen to support Forever Stars, a local charity supporting families who have experienced baby loss. They have funded bereavement suites at Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital, as well as The Serenity Garden in Highfields Park, a peaceful space for remembrance. They also run workshops to support siblings who have experienced loss. This cause is especially close to our hearts, as both parents and team members within our nursery community have been personally affected by baby loss.

Throughout the year, we’ll be getting together for lots of fundraising activities, from bake sales and dress-up days, to sponsored challenges. Together we can make a difference to such an important cause and inspire our children to grow with kindness and generosity. We can’t wait to see what we can achieve as a community! Keep an eye out for updates on our events and how you can get involved in supporting Forever Stars.

[HEADER]Funding We are pleased to provide the Government's 15 Hours and 30 Hours funding offer for all eligible children aged 9 months and above. Our Funding Guide provides an overview of how to check eligibility and how we offer funding. Our stretched funding offers up to 11.18 hours / 22.35 hours a week for 15 Hours / 30 Hours funding respectively across all 51 weeks we’re open. Parents can apply up to 10 hours of funding per day, during our regular Nursery or Business day sessions. Any balance hours can be used towards any of our regular sessions listed above. Government funding is not intended to cover the cost of meals, other consumables, or extracurricular activities. Accordingly, as part of our integrated offering, we apply modest charges for these to each funded session. If you’re considering options other than our integrated offering, please speak with the nursery manager. Costs below are based on a business day with 10 hours of funding. For a half day or part funded session, our invoicing system pro-rates the charges. Homecooked food: £7.50 (under 3s), £8.00 (over 3s); Health & Hygiene consumables: £2.50 (under 3), £2.00 (over 3s); Additional hours: Priced at the session hourly rate for partially funded sessions. Please refer to our nursery fee calculator for an estimate of your monthly cost, inclusive of charges.
